2017 One Love Century report
Thank you to our 2017 One Love riders and sponsors for making this year’s One Love Century the biggest ever!
What an awesome year this was for the 12th annual Metro Atlanta Cycling Club’s One Love Century (MACC, OLC). We had another record turnout with almost 1,000 cyclists in attendance. Cyclists came from all over Georgia, other states and as far away as the West Coast. We even had one club, Major Taylor Cycling Club New Jersey, ride their bikes approximately 900 miles in 9 days from NJ to GA to attend the OLC!
We love our diverse OLC cycling community and appreciate that you guys come together as ONE to make the OLC a safe and enjoyable ride for all. It was wonderful to see all the different cycling clubs proudly wearing their kits and getting it in on the beautiful OLC course. This year we noticed another increase in the number of cyclists riding the full 100-miles. Based on all the smiles witnessed and social media chatter this may have been the most successful OLC to date!
It is hard to express in words how much we truly appreciate you, so we try to show you during the OLC by providing excellent service and ongoing improvements:

This year we invited a couple of Olympians. First, Mr. Nelson Vails aka “Ride with Nelly”. Nelson is the 1st African-American Olympic Cycling Champion (winning a Silver Medal in 1984). Also in the house this year, remaining low-key, was Mr. Peter Aldridge, a 3 time Olympian who raced in some of the same Olympic games as Nelson Vails. We hope you enjoyed riding and interacting with these two Olympians!

We invited our new friends Jennifer “Storm” Hilton and again Peter Aldridge of the One Love Cycling Club based out of Florida and Cycle Caribbean so you could learn about their Caribbean tours (Jamaica Reggae Ride and brand new Cuba Ride).

We took a stab at selling MACC’s official One Love Cycling kits at the OLC. There was more interest than inventory so we will take this into consideration next year and bring more!

THANK-YOU for a job well done, we could not do this without you!
Our cycling helmets are off to everyone involved in the success of the OLC! Your support and patronage enable MACC to continue meeting its mission of supporting youth cycling. We distribute OLC profits to the following beneficiaries who promote cycling among local kids through various programs which teach cycling skills, safety, respect and the overall love of the sport: Dick Lane Velodrome, East Atlanta Kids Club, BRAG Dream Team, Cycles and Change, SOPO and We Cycle Atlanta.
